PURPOSE OF THE SURVEY
The Pre-Discharge Survey is carried out to assess the condition of the cargo, transportation units, and related conditions prior to the discharging operation at the port or warehouse. The main objectives include:

Ensuring the cargo remains intact and undamaged during sea transportation

Verifying the actual quantity and packaging condition

Detecting and recording any early signs of damage or loss

Providing a basis for comparison with post-discharge inspection results
SCOPE OF INSPECTION
✅ General cargo condition checks while still inside ship’s holds or containers, including:

Cleanliness and dryness of cargo holds

Packaging condition (torn, wet, deformed, decayed, etc.)

Signs of mold, moisture, leakage, or contamination
✅ Quantity verification using tally methods or visual estimates, depending on cargo type
✅ Photo documentation and on-site reporting, serving as evidence in case of disputes
✅ Assessment of discharging equipment conditions, such as cranes, vessel deck, and cargo handling gear
