CARGO CONDITION SURVEY PRE – LOADING ONBOARD MV AAL GLADSTONE

1. Service Introduction

Recently, the Surveyor Team of Vietnam Maritime Control Joint Stock Company (VM CONTROL) was present at Thi Vai International Port (TVP) to conduct a cargo condition survey prior to loading onboard the vessel MV AAL GLADSTONE, as requested by our client.

This inspection was carried out to ensure that the cargo fully complied with technical and maritime safety standards, thereby minimizing the risks and potential damages during handling, sea transportation, and delivery.

2. Detailed Survey Procedure

With extensive experience in the maritime inspection industry, VM CONTROL implements a strict inspection process in compliance with international standards and applicable regulations. At the survey site, our team conducted the following steps:

Step 1: Cargo surface condition check and detailed recording

  • Identify and document any pre-existing damages such as scratches, dents, deformations, rust, or other mechanical impacts.

  • Take photographic evidence of all relevant details for reference and claims handling if disputes arise.

  • Prepare a Pre-loading Condition Report with comprehensive descriptions and photo records.

Step 2: Supervision of the loading process

  • Closely monitor the loading from warehouse/yard to the vessel to ensure the correct type, quantity, and stowage plan.

  • Control cargo distribution and stability to ensure vessel’s structural safety and compliance with maritime cargo handling standards.

  • Provide guidance to stevedores, particularly on lashing and securing to ensure the cargo remains stable throughout the voyage.

Step 3: Safety assessment for sea transportation

  • Evaluate cargo stability after being loaded onto the vessel.

  • Assess the cargo’s ability to withstand forces, and the adequacy of protective measures against vibration, impact, or environmental effects at sea.

  • Recommend adjustments or corrective actions if any unsafe conditions are identified.

Step 4: Report preparation and issuance of survey certificate

  • Prepare a comprehensive inspection report including all findings, photographs, technical assessments, and conclusions.

  • Issue a Survey Certificate in accordance with international standards, recognized by shipowners, insurers, and commercial partners.

  • Archive all documents for legal purposes and future reference if necessary.
